Rules & Etiquette
- During Class time, on the training floor, and at the academy instructors are addressed as “Sifu” which means teacher in Chinese or “Guro” which means teacher in Filipino.
- When there is a class being conducted on the training floor, talking or making noise while the Instructor is demonstrating is disrespectful.
- Bow out of respect whenever you ENTER and EXIT the training floor. It is proper martial arts etiquette. Also if a student arrives late to class please bow in before beginning to train. Students should also show RESPECTS (salutation) before beginning to train with their partner.
- During Class, practice ONLY what the Instructor has taught you. This is so your training partner can prepare themselves physically and mentally. Because we are drilling, doing an unexpected move can injure your partner.
- ANY STUDENT DISCOVERED PROVOKING A FIGHT IN OR OUT OF THE ACADEMY WILL BE EXPELLED FROM THE ACADEMY IMMEDIATELY. Students should never use their techniques unless someone is physically threatening them, their friends, or their family. Always try to avoid becoming physically involved. Stand up for what is right and what is just, but do so intelligently. Do not show off or misuse your new skills. That is not the intention of our training. Remember: COMMON SENSE BEFORE SELF DEFENSE.
- Please keep yourself groomed before training (nails clipped, clean uniform, up keep personal hygiene, etc.) Students MUST WEAR UNIFORM TO TRAIN.
- PLEASE PAY YOUR TUITION TIMELY. The academy is providing you with a service, and in order for it to continue doing so, timely payment of tuition is necessary.
- Train with RESPECT, in your class you will find students with varying levels of fitness and ability. All students are training to improve themselves, but they may learn at different speeds and at different intensities. The Instructors want you to train as hard as you can, but being careless and hurting training partners because you refuse to slow down and gain control first is unacceptable and may lead to expulsion from the Academy. Get to know your training partners and what they may need to improve. The better your training partner gets, the better you get because they train you better. Good luck and have Fun!
